Learn to create a bridge between the problem and the solution.  Find out how to stop trading time for money. Business coach, David Dugan, shares how to scale and leverage your business.

David Dugan is a Business Coach, Lead Mentor for the Elite 500 Mastermind Group and co-author of the book ‘Bullet Proof Business: Smart Strategies to Protect, Maximise and Accelerate Your Business’.

I once heard that “success leaves clues” and after working with over 4100 entrepreneurs (1160 of which are one on one) I know the strategies that work and the ones that don’t.

Knowing the most effective business strategies enables me to fast track the growth of an entrepreneur’s dream and to ‘Co-Pilot’ their business rather then them trying to work it out on their own.

After 14 years of mentoring high performance individuals and five tertiary qualifications in his pocket, David has acquired a broad range of knowledge and experience on what it takes to achieve success in business. As a Business Mentor, David loves helping Business Owners take control of their business rather than the business controlling them. His passion lies at the intersection of entrepreneurship and personal empowerment.

He started his first business at the age of 16 and has been growing business ever since. He works with start up single person business through to 200 people companies. David believes Small and Medium size businesses are the backbone of the economy and are the best vehicles to make a positive difference to the community at large. He helps business owners who are already skilled in their profession but find they are working way to hard for limited rewards. He coaches, trains and educates these skilled business owners, on the equally important skill of Business Ownership.

David has personally guided over 1160 business owners to make more money, have more meaning and create a better lifestyle for their families and themselves. He has distilled 5 key factors that create a sustainable fast growth business, which he wrote about in the book he co-authored ‘Bullet Proof Business’.

Apart from his business experience, David also served in the Navy where his leadership, communication and commercial acumen, lead him to be quickly promoted to a Commander. David was given the mandate to coach Navy’s top decision makers across all major business units to help them remove barriers to success and unleash the potential of the leadership team. In this time he served on deployment in the Middle East and was awarded the Humanitarian Overseas Medal for his work during the 2004 Tsunami that hit Indonesia.

David has also undergone in-depth training earning himself a number of coaching credentials, including the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership, International Coach Federation, and being a Trainer with Anthony Robbins, the world’s authority on the psychology of peak performance.

Think Like A Journalist Quote

“Goals without routines are wishes; routines without goals are aimless. The most successful business leaders have a clear vision and the disciplines (routines) to make it a reality.” ―Verne Harnish, Scaling Up: How a Few Companies Make It and Why the Rest Don’t

Success Quote or Tip

“If you don’t build a scalable business that has a methodology, you’ll always be trading time for money. You’ll have a business that just provides you income.”

Career Highlight

David believes in waking up every day and being your best. He retired from the Navy as a Commander. He was a dentist in the Navy and after but he felt a calling for more. Hear why a helicopter crash is his career highlight because it caused David to change his career and do things differently. Find out what changed in David’s life after that tragedy.

When It Didn’t Work

David had grown the business so he abdicated parts of the business responsibilities. He lost involvement and the rhythm. The startup became chaotic. Things weren’t getting done. Find out how he corrected this and turned the business around.

Top Tips How to Scale & Leverage Your Business

  1. Have real clarity: who is your ideal client? Have a vision for your client that’s bigger than their vision.
  2. Top 3 problems: In their mind and words (not yours) what are their problems?  What’s the sum of all those problems: Ultimate Concern?
  3. What does the client want to achieve? This is the exact opposite of the Ultimate Concern. Define that Ultimate Solution.
  4. Methodology:  Create a bridge between the problem and the solution.
  5. Offering: create a package for the client that is outcome driven giving them their Ultimate Solution but that isn’t based on trading time for money.
